 Dear colleagues,

After successful holding of 2nd International Persian Congress of Acarology (IPCA) in Karaj, on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd IPCA, I am very pleased to invite acarologists and mite and tick interested professors, students and researchers all over the world to attend the IPCA 2017 that will be held in Tehran, Iran, from August 23th–25th 2017.

The first announcement containing the basic information on the forthcoming event is attached to this invitation.

Tehran is the capital of Iran and Tehran Province. Tehran is the largest city and urban area of Iran, the 2nd-largest city in Western Asia, and the 3rd-largest in the Middle East. It is ranked 29th in the world by the population of its metropolitan area.

The city was the seat of the Qajars and Pahlavis, the two last imperial dynasties of Iran. It is home to many historical collections, such as the royal complexes of Golestan, Sa'dabad, and Niavaran, as well as the country's most important governmental buildings of the modern period.

The most famous landmarks of the city include the Azadi Tower (Shown in attached announcement), a memorial built during the Pahlavi period, and the Milad Tower, the world's 17th tallest freestanding structure, which was built in 2007. Tabiat (means Nature) Bridge, which was completed in 2014, is considered the third contemporary symbol of the city.

Tehran is served by the Mehrabad and Khomeini international airports, a central railway station, the rapid transit rail system of the Tehran Metro, as well as a trolleybus and a BRT system, and has a large network of highways. For more information, please see http://en.tehran.ir/

The Congress venue, the University of Tehran (main gate was shown in attached announcement), is Iran's oldest modern university. Based on its historical, socio-cultural and political pedigree, as well as its research and teaching profile, UT has been nicknamed "The mother university of Iran" (http://ut.ac.ir/en).

The Congress will have plenary, ordinary and poster display, addressing every issue on Acarology and will be an excellent forum to establish new links and collaborations among participants. Also workshop(s) will be held immediately before and/or after the Congress.

The proposed general topics are:

- Biology

- Biological Control

- Ecology and Behavior

- Medical and Veterinary Acarology

- Taxonomy, Systematics and Biodiversity

- Toxicology
